- KIRILL SEREBRENNIKOV was born in 1969 in Rostov-on-Don. Graduated in physics from the Rostov State University. Since the August of 2012, Kirill Serebrennikov is the artistic director of Gogol Center. Since 1994, he has directed a number of performances in Rostov theatres. His first Moscow production was Plasticine by Vassily Sigarev (2001). His productions in Moscow theatres include: Some Explicit Polaroids by Mark Ravenhill at the Pushkin Theatre, Terrorism and Playing the Victim by the Presnyakov brothers, The Petty Bourgeoisie by Maxim Gorky, The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh, The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht, The Zoya’s apartment by Mikhail Bulgakov and other shows. He also did numerous stage adaptations of music pieces. Since 1991 Kirill Serebrennikov directs on TV, since 1998, he is a film director. Among his films are: The Swallow, Mysteries of the Storm, The Undressed, The Diary of a Murderer, Playing the Victim (Grand-prix of Kinotavr film festival and of Rome film festival). Kirill Serebrennikov is also a laureate of the Locarno film festival. Since 2006, Kirill Serebrennikov is one of the art-directors of the international festival-school Territory. Since 2011, he is the artistic director of the Studio Seven, one of the residents of the Gogol Center - a young collective which consists of the former Kirill Serebrennikov’s students at Moscow Art Theatre School. He is also the founder and the artistic director of the Platform project in the Center of the Contemporary Art "Winzavod".
