x O PREDSTAVI

Tokom poslednjih pet godina Ana i igor su kontinuirano umetnički sarađivali kroz nekoliko projekata, istražujući različite teme kroz polje koreografije i plesa: opstanak i ulogu javnog govora u današnjem kapitalističkom društvu, položaj i prava osoba s retkim bolestima u Srbiji, društveni položaj umetnika nove generacije u oblasti savremenog plesa; istraživanje uslova privremenosti kao osnovnih uslova rada i egzistencije na današnjem umetničkom tržištu, itd.

x CURATORS’ WORD

The mission of Bitef is not only to present the peak of the world festival production, but also to promote the independent scene projects when they reach the highest artistic standards; this mission becomes even more important when it comes to local, young authors. All these parameters are met in an exceptional conceptual dance production Only Mine Alone. Squeezed into a closed, claustrophobic box, Dubljevic and Koruga keep exploring the wall of their physical and spiritual dungeon in a metaphorical and, at the same, time, sensually disturbing way. They are trying to verbalize their state, emanated strongly by their action on the stage, but they fail: why isn’t it possible to say what is bothering us, why does the society prevent us from saying we are depressive.,.? The show, thus, ends in a catharsis: not only does the way out of the dungeon exist, but new forms of solidarity are also possible: those immanent only to theatre, as a place of instant, immediate and tactile gathering and exchange.

Over the last five years, Ana and Igor have had a continuous artistic collaboration creating several projects, exploring various topics through the field of contemporary dance and choreography: existence and function of public speech in today’s capitalist society, the status and rights of people with rare diseases in Serbia, social status of new generation of artists of contemporary dance; temporality as a basic condition of work and existence in today’s art market, etc. On a formal level, they are analysing choreography in the sphere of immaterial - the language, thus producing “language choreography” as an expanded form of stage expression. Through their continuous collaboration, they have produced works: Practice what you Pitch! (2013), Expose (2013/2014), Streamlined (2014/2015); and Temporaries (2011-2013) - in collaboration with another four choreographers from Belgrade. Only Mine Alone explores the so-called “negative emotions” of an individual as a significant quality of everyday life within the present capitalistic society. The inspiration for this research, besides the authors’ personal experiences, comes from the theoretical and artistic work of Ann Cvetkovich, who treats those emotional states as social and cultural signifiers, rather than medical condition of an individual. The work supports public recognition of these emotions on a collective level, as a potential starting point for emergence of new forms of collectivism, solidarity and socio-political act. The producction has recieved the Award for the most original research of a performance segment at the Infant Festival.
