Abstract

BRITISH MEDICAL MISSIONS IN SERBIA

Serbian war difficulties were multiplied by enlarged occurrence of infectious discases, in particular of epidemic typhus, transmitted by Austrian troops in Bosnia. Epidemic was suppressed the most due to the presence of medical missions from the Allied and neutral countries. In January 1915. British Red Cross sent medical aid to Serbia. A very important role at that time played the Serbian Relief Fund created in the UK for medical assistance to Serbia. Together with Serbian Relief Fund in Serbia was active Scottish Women's Hospitals. The paper concerns postal items and influential women
